Community Rules

  1. Kites is a media rich website. Click here to learn how to use media to share your story.

  2. What makes for a good story: anything which showcases your own experience with the criminal justice system. Sharing your experience in your own voice or that of people in your community. Political calls to action with information on how to get involved.

  3. Cross-posting from your own blog/website is welcome.

  4. When you quote material that is not your own, please provide a link whenever possible. If you're posting content recorded or written by someone else, please provide at least two paragraphs of your own material so we get a sense of why you posted others' material.

  5. Many people choose to post to Kites Campaigns under pseudonyms, keeping their real names confidential. There are many reasons people choose not to reveal their real names. Revealing the identify of someone who has chosen to remain anonymous is a bannable offense.

  6. Accounts are forever. Don't ask to have your account deleted.

  7. Threats or calls for violence are a bannable offense, even if they were meant as a joke.

  8. Our website is for adults, and as such adult language will usually be allowed -- just keep it out of headlines. Hateful or defamatory language of any form, however, will not be allowed. No calling out individuals.

  9. We want the website to police itself. You can flag a story that you find offensive. But on the Internet, some people like to label posts as offensive just because they don't agree with the content or carry personal grudges against the user. In these cases, try posting your own content to share your point of view. Misusing the flag option can be a bannable offense.

  10. To share your story, you must enter at least one tag. To learn more about tags, please visit our About page.
